One hundred capsules. 1,575 mg of psyllium husk per three, with apple pectin, flaxseed, fenugreek and fennel.

Great Britain authorises exactly one health claim for psyllium husk, and it requires 7 g a day. Six capsules give you 3.15 g. That is not enough to earn the claim, so we do not make it — or any other. What we do instead is print the whole formula, every milligram, and the reason the claim is missing.

Fibre is the fastest-growing part of the UK supplement shelf right now. Most of what is sold into it leans on wording the law does not support. This does not.

Take three to six capsules a day with at least 250 ml of water.

† Whole-plant equivalent. The extract actually in the capsule is smaller: apple pectin 60mg, rhubarb 36mg, prune 30mg, broccoli 15mg, fig 15mg. Both numbers are printed because only one of them is the thing you swallow.

Full ingredients: Psyllium husk/seed powder (may contain mustard, soya, sesame), capsule shell: hydroxy-propyl-methylcellulose, maltodextrin, flaxseed powder, fenugreek seed powder, apple pectin prep (pectin, sucrose), dried fennel seed powder, rhubarb root extract, prune berry extract, broccoli sprout extract, carrot root powder, fig fruit extract.

No nutrient reference value is established for any of these. Where there is no NRV, we leave the column empty rather than invent one. //

What’s not in it

In it, and why

  • Capsule shell: HPMCThe capsule itself. Hydroxy-propyl-methylcellulose is plant cellulose, not gelatin — which is why this pack suits vegans.
  • MaltodextrinBulking agent. Carries the smaller extracts evenly through the blend so every capsule holds the same dose.
  • Apple pectin prep (pectin, sucrose)The apple pectin arrives on a sucrose carrier. That is sugar, in a trace amount, and it is the reason 'no added sugar' is missing from the list on the right.

Not in it

  • Proprietary blends
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Flavourings
  • Colours, titanium dioxide included
  • Preservatives
  • Gelatin
  • Anti-caking agents

This is the second pack in the range that cannot say 'no added sugar'. The apple pectin preparation contains sucrose. It is a trace, it is on the ingredient list, and we are not going to leave it off a panel called what is not in it.

Allergens: May contain mustard, soya and sesame — declared from the psyllium raw material. This panel is read off the ingredient list, which UK law requires to be complete, so it tells you what is not added. It is not an allergen guarantee — the pack is made in a facility that also handles allergenic materials, and we are not going to print a “free from” we cannot stand behind.

How to use

Adults, 3–6 capsules per day, taken with a minimum of 250ml of water and ideally before a main meal. The total can be split over two meals. Do not exceed the maximum recommended intake.

At three a day the pack lasts 33 days; at six, 17. Take with plenty of liquid.

The science

There are two different kinds of claim here, and this pack earns one of them.

The nutrition claim we do make:

  • High in fibre

That is a nutrition claim, and the threshold is 6g of fibre per 100g of product. This blend clears it comfortably.

The health claim we do not make:

  • Psyllium husk contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels

Its condition of use is 7g of psyllium husk a day. Six capsules — the maximum on this label — give 3.15g. That is 45% of what the claim requires, so it is not available to this product and we do not make it.

We could have formulated to 7g and earned it. That would be nine to fourteen capsules a day and nobody takes those. So you get the smaller dose, the claim we actually earned, and the arithmetic for the one we did not. //

The botanicals here — fenugreek, fennel, rhubarb, broccoli sprout, fig — sit under claims still on hold in GB pending EFSA. No claim is made for any of them either.

The honest-label test

The same actives sit in a lot of tubs. The difference is what a brand is willing to print next to them.

Anima prints
  • Every active, with its exact dose & %NRV
  • The full ingredient list — fillers included
  • Only the health claims GB law authorises
  • A batch number on every pack
  • Where it’s made and what it’s made from
The category often hides
  • “Proprietary blends” with no per-ingredient dose
  • Bulking agents behind a marketing name
  • Claims with no authorised basis in GB law
  • Testing that’s referenced but never shown
  • Source and origin left deliberately vague

Category comparison based on typical UK-available products, 2026. No specific brands referenced.

Questions, answered

What does “nothing hidden” actually mean?

Every ingredient is printed with its dose, every filler is named, and every pack carries a batch number. If it isn’t on the label, it isn’t in the pack.

Are the health claims on this site legal?

We only use health claims authorised on the GB nutrition and health claims register, at the doses those claims require. Where a popular claim isn’t authorised — botanicals like ashwagandha and turmeric, or cardiovascular claims for K2 — we say so and make no claim.

Where is it made, and is it independently tested?

Manufactured in the UK to GMP standard, with a batch number on every pack. Independent third-party testing, published per batch, is the standard we are building toward — our Certificates page says exactly where we are.

What about sweeteners and fillers?

No sweeteners, ever. Any bulking or anti-caking agent needed to make a capsule work is named in full in the ingredient list — never hidden behind a “complex”. Every product page has a What’s not in it panel that lists each one and why it is there.
